A proud Joburger, Lukhona Afika Mnguni is a builder at heart and a leader ready to clean up the city.
A New Leader for a City That Needs One
RISE Mzansi has officially launched Lukhona Afika Mnguni as its mayoral candidate for Johannesburg. This is not just the announcement of a candidate. It is the beginning of a campaign to rebuild a city that has been neglected, mismanaged, and captured for too long. Johannesburg does not have a shortage of ideas. It has a shortage of capable, accountable leadership. This campaign is about changing that, with leadership grounded in competence, integrity, and a commitment to serve the people of this city.
We are committed to building a safe, connected, and inclusive city with reliable public transport, dependable services, thriving local businesses, affordable housing, and equal opportunities for all residents to live, work, and prosper.
01
Jozi On The Move: A clean, safe, affordable and integrated public transport system where a single card gets you to your destination.
02
A Living City: Streets in Fordsburg and the CBD that are alive and safe until late, where small businesses are supported with water, waste collection, and proper trading spaces rather than harassed by the Council.
03
Dignity in Every Ward: We will ensure that the quality of your life is not determined by the Region you live in or your income. Our commitment is to provide a baseline of service delivery excellence across the entire city.
04
Infrastructure Reliability: A city where the water runs every morning and the lights stay on because we’ve tackled cable theft and maintenance head-on.
05
Spatial Justice: Requiring new developments in Sandton or Rosebank to include affordable rental units so workers can live near their jobs.
The People’s Manifesto departs from the ineffective political norm of seeing problems in isolation when they are systemic and manifest across different sectors and points of impact.
